This morning we woke up early to catch our flight out of JFK airport to Honolulu, Hawai’i. We took a connecting flight from JFK to San Francisco and a crystal clear view of the Rocky Mountains from above. It’s amazing to see snowcaps in the summer! Our first trip together was a cross-country roadtrip so we’ve experiences the Rocky Mountains from land, but it was awesome to see it from above with a birds-eye view!

Once in San Francisco, we had a quick layover before we were off to Honolulu. Each of our two flights were approximately 6 hours, but having such a short layover made it seem like one continuous 12 hour flight…needless to say we were exhausted!

It’s crazy to think we left New York City at 7am local time and arrived in Honolulu around 2pm local time after 12 hours of traveling. Our family caught a flight from South Florida that arrived about an hour before us, so they were eagerly awaiting our arrival. We decided to rent a car for our time on the island so we can have a bit more freedom and choice in our adventure.

We went straight to the hotel in the Waikiki area to settle in before getting some Jollibee nearby. It was only around 6pm local time at this point, but was actually midnight for us. We knew we had to fight the jet lag, so we decided to end our night with a nice walk along Waikiki beach.

Tomorrow we’re waking up early to do a waterfall hike and venture on the east side of the island…so make sure you stay posted!
