Sometimes it’s nice to just sleep in without any early plans for the day. This trip has been action-packed with tons of adventures, so the days that we just relax and take our time in the morning are always a treat. This morning we woke up to a group of parakeets singing outside our window on a tall palm. We’re on the top floor of a 6-story resort, so when we say tall palm, we mean it!

We’ll be honest, we have nothing planned today besides hanging out in the pool.

As much as we love indulging at resorts, we also like exploring around them, so we planned on leaving for lunch. After spending the morning at our pool, we decided to try the local McDonalds. Now this might sound a bit strange to some…we know, we know…why go to McDonalds in a different country…but when we travel internationally, we always like to stop at a McDonalds at least once. We’ve found that McDonalds in each country carry many of the staple items found in the United States, but also has a slightly unique menu.

Here in Costa Rica, we found out they serve bone-in fried chicken at their McDonalds…so of course we had to try it! They have a meal deal called “the family pack” where you get 4 medium fries, and 4 different meal options (a big mac, 2 cheeseburger, 2 piece fried chicken, and a 10-piece chicken nuggets…kids meals are also an option). We may have overdone it…but you can’t beat it for about 9,000 colones (~$14USD). Now we of course have had most of these already in the US…but the fried bone-in chicken was SO good and had SO much flavor!

After lunch, we made our way back to our hotel to do a lot of Netflix and chill. When dinner came around, Joey went out to grab some sushi to bring back to our room…which was pretty delicious, but we’re pretty sure nothing can top the sushi we had back in Uvita (check out our post from Day 19 to see that recommendation)!

We went to bed soon after dinner because tomorrow we’ll be heading a bit north to a different hotel to be closer to one of the many volcanic national parks here in Costa Rica…so stay posted!
