We pulled an audible yesterday and drove to DC from Dewey Beach late night, so I apologize for the delayed post!

We started our day at around 5:30AM because we knew we had a long day ahead of us…not including the DC audible. We quickly packed up camp, which was left muddy from the thunderstorm the night before, and heading to our first stop…Philadelphia. We arrived around 9AM, so we took pictures of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. We decided to take a stroll around Philly to see all the history behind the city!

We couldn’t come to Philly without having a cheesesteak, so we headed over to John’s Roast Pork to have their world famous roast pork and cheesesteak sandwiches for an early lunch! I don’t care what anyone says, but these were by far THE BEST pork and cheesesteak sandwiches I’ve ever had.

After our delicious late breakfast/early lunch, we headed out to Dewey Beach, DE, in hopes of getting to the beach to catch the beautiful weather. However, everyone seemed to be heading there the same time we were, as we stood in traffic for what seemed like HOURS…keep in mind it’s the 4th of July weekend. We made it to Joey’s friend’s house midday, and met up with him at the bar he works at, which was conveniently placed right on the beach. Needless to say there were no bears, so we felt right at home!

The original plan was to stay in Dewey Beach, but Dewey Beach got the best of us. Before we left, we had to make a stop at Woody’s Restaurant to have their world famous crab cakes. I’m not really sure how they stay together to form a “cake” because there was nothing but huge chunks of crabmeat…The. Best. Thing. Ever.

We got into DC just before midnight and have a full day of tourist activities planned for the new day! More to follow so stay posted!
