This morning Joey walked to Riverside Walk so that I could wake up to Café du Monde coffee and beignets at my bedside…what a guy! He even got me a souvenir mug! We finished our DELICIOUS breakfast in our hotel and started getting ready to leave for our big drive to Florida…our final state of the trip!!
Joey looked at the weather forecast for Ginnie Springs, which is the campsite we’re staying at tonight. He saw that there was a huge tropical storm heading that way, so he decided that we would have to make a game time decision of where we’d stay for the night, but only once we were in the area.
We could either stay at our campsite in Ginnie Springs and wait out the storm, or we could drive through the day and make it all the way back home to Palm Beach! We made it to the Gainesville area (near High Springs, where Ginnie Springs is) by late afternoon and were met with rough winds and heavy rain.
We continued to monitor the weather radar to see how the storm was developing and where it was moving. It wasn’t looking promising for us, especially tent camping and planning to do an outdoor river ride, so we decided to continue driving all the way home!
It took us about 7 hours to get home, and we didn’t get home until about 10:45PM, but we wanted to go somewhere to celebrate the end of this amazing trip, so we drove to Funky Buddha! They have very unique beers, and I ended up getting the Rice Crispy Treat Ale…which was absolutely AMAZING, and incredibly unique!
After our little celebration, we headed to Joey’s house and quickly called it a night. We can’t believe our trip has come to an end! It is definitely a bittersweet feeling…it’ll be so nice to relax at our homes with our family before we head back to New York City next Wednesday to go back to real life, but we’re already missing the beautiful parks we were so lucky to visit. This roadtrip adventure has truly been amazing, and we’ve shared life-long memories that we can look back on and laugh at…like my bear incident!! Although this was our last day on the trip, it surely won’t be my last post of the blog…so stay posted!
