We must’ve been dreaming all night about our delicious 808 Grindz breakfast from yesterday, because we woke up craving it again! Luckily, it was only a 5 minute walk from our hotel in downtown Kona. We picked up breakfast to-go and brought it back to the room. Today we decided to try their macadamia nut pancakes with coconut cream, along with an order of corned beef hash and eggs…both were absolutely DEEEELICOUS!
We only had a few hours left on the Big Island before needing to return our Jeep to the airport and catch our flight home. After relaxing at the hotel all morning, we walked around Kona for a bit and ended up at Kona Brewing Company. We had a quick lunch and a unique flight of beers we never knew Kona even made! It was the perfect way to end our trip…great food, great drinks, and as always, great company!
There was a chocolate store right next to the brewery, so we popped in to pick out some chocolates to take home with us!
After our chocolate haul, we decided to use the car one last time. Each time we visit one of the four main Hawaiian Islands, we always make it a point to stop at Costco for a bulk package of Mauna Loa macadamia nuts…our favorite!
Note: Each of the four main Hawaiian Islands has at least one Costco, with Oahu having four!
Once we got our food-venirs, we headed back to the airport. We left the Jeep in a designated parking area, walked into the open-air airport for our flight, and laughed about all we had just experienced in one week.
It’s always a bittersweet feeling to say goodbye to Hawai’i, especially as we’ve grown to really love these beautiful islands. With Hawai’i, we always like to remember “it’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.” Mahalo, Big Island!
