We’re heading to the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico for a destination wedding weekend! While we’re there, we plan to adventures to a few of the major Mayan ruins, indulge in local cuisine, and explore the infamous cenotes of the beautiful Riviera Maya.
We’re flying out of JFK airport directly to Cancun Airport. Before departing on our trip, we made arrangements to rent a car for 3 days to do a big loop around the Yucatan Peninsula to see the major archeological sites and city centers.
Day 1: We’ll start the trip heading south from Riviera Maya towards Tulum to check out the archeological site. Then we’ll drive west to Coba to explore the Mayan ruins hidden within the jungle. We’ll continue west towards the town of Valladolid where we plan to stay for the night.
Day 2: We hope to fit in one last adventure before we fly back home in the afternoon. Our plan is to wake up early to head towards Chichen Itza. After a weekend of driving around the Yucatan Peninsula, we’ll finally head back east to Cancun Airport for an evening flight back home.
This is our first time planning an adventure-packed trip in such a short amount of time. If it turns out well, then you’ll definitely see more weekend adventure trips from us! 🙂
